General objectives of the seminar: Deepening Conferences issues (relevant to all Conferences: “Globalisation and liberalism”, “War and Peace”, and “Rights / Citizenship / Democracy”).
Presentation of contemporary data, analysis, understanding. Seeking common alternatives, exchange of information and experience between participants.
Special objective / expected results of the seminar: Contribution to the establishment / enlargement of European and Balkan networks for a “just and lasting peace and co-operation of popular movements in the Balkans”, and for “defending social and political rights in the Balkans”. Opportunity for networking between social organisations and associations of workers or student unions.
Questions for discussion: 1. Role of nationalisms, European and global institutions in the 90’s Balkan wars – What movements and citizens should do to achieve a just and lasting peace.2.
